Omarion and “Tell Him Something” are both OK, It’s like Budden can bang out these relationship type joints daily.
Solid track – something I would bump in the whip. He’s another cat that has been able to adapt to the transition and change’s very well – he still remains himself. Banks, is Banks – miss hearing him on these tracks. “Last Day” with Juicy J and Lloyd Banks – Mouse’s flow is straight modern, south type – he actually sounds real good on this – still sounds like himself. “Ghetto Burbs” has a bit of a rock feel to it with heavy distorted guitars and Emanny bangs out a sick Ne-Yo-esque type chorus – Joe’s flow is flipped on this one, something you’d expect from a Jay project – not sure about this one. The mood muzik feel continues with “Skeletons” with verses lent by fellow Slaughterhouse members Joell Ortiz and Crooked I. Thought I could keep it all a secret, I convinced myself…” I’m plenty comfortable when dangers around/Īnd the bigger picture is sick and don’t know my triggers or know the alarm enforcers/ĭon’t know a nigga, Don’t know my bouts with drugs and liquor or the harm it causes/ With a heart this cold, How’d y’all think I’d be receptive to fall/ I’m so seasonal, Some of y’all knew I’d spring back/ How could a forward thinker move so ass backwards… “Headed up-field but I couldn’t dodge the last tackler/ Probably our favorite track on the entire joint. “All In My Head” – We’ve told you before, this kid KOBE is a f*ckn problem! Sheesh. Not sure who Joe is addressing on this track exactly, but he’s definitely letting lose on some people. “Castles” begins with piano chords and choral ooohhh’s and ahhh’s. So if she come with baggage it’s a carry-on” She been through so much still she carry on/ Give her the best of me, but she endured the worst of it/ She low maintenance, but she deserves a grip/ We both took a chance on each other and it was worth the risk/ “We’re both broke in pieces, we both been hurt & shit/ In typical Joe form “You and I” Features rising R&B star Emanny – a relationship cut, mood musik status This might enjoy the most radio and mixtape buzz because of the names and southern feel, modern swag throughout. This particular one features Wiz Khalifa and suddenly hot New Yorker French Montana. Moving on, we come across a track called “NBA”, Never Broke Again. The third cut, probably the strongest single off the project, “She Don’t Put It Down” – features heavyweight Lil’ Wayne and a well executed chorus by R&B crooner – Tank. The second track fit’s perfectly with the introduction – production by Mizfitz Soundz and a Drake-esque type chorus provided by Houston’s 23 year old prodigy – marvelous! It’s titled “Top of the World”. The intro by SLV sets the tone for this project so perfectly – the musicality, the background vocals and even when Joe starts talking, he kind-of leaves you at the edge of your seat, hoping he would of gone in on that beat. We’ve witnessed his life unfold in front of our eyes, from the drug addiction, to his crazy love life, friendships that have gone sour, beefs and his struggles within the music industry. Joey is so versatile yet so himself on every single piece of music he puts out. His most recent release “No Love Lost” is an amazing body of work. One who we consider to be on our top 10 list, maybe even top 5!
Joe Budden is probable one of THE MOST underrated emcees in the history of Hip Hop.
